A Green Mushroom

Gauntlet (2015) was free through PS Plus in December and I finally got around to trying it out. It's an example of the basis of all Hack and Slash games.  It makes sense since Gauntlet itself was one of the main origins of the entire genre. This one has been updated and modernized a bit, but it's a hack and slash game at it's core. I played a few levels of single player to see what it has to offer and quickly realized that this game is truly made to be played with friends in local co-op.  I'm going to keep it installed for the next time I have some people over who would be interested in local co-op.  It's not that great single player but with friends it could be so much fun.

This game should just be called what it is... Rocket Car Soccer. That's what you need to know.  You are a rocket car and you're playing soccer.  The premise is simple. I expected nothing from this game, but I found a world of fun.  This is amazing. The game just launched on PS4 and Steam, but if you're a PS Plus member like me then you got it for free through PSN this month.  It's probably the greatest PS Plus free game that I've gotten.  It's amazing. I don't think I can do this game justice with words, you need to see it in motion.  But just know, if you have PS Plus you absolutely need to grab this game (it's free!) before the end of the month.

Monster Bag is a game that isn't worth your time or money.  This is mostly a PSA. I had Monster Bag on my Vita for the trip last week since I had gotten it for free via PS Plus.  It's one of the worst free PS Plus games I've gotten. You are a monster that also happens to be a bag.  You jump from one unsuspecting person's back to another while avoiding people with evil eyes and throwing things also.  I probably just made it sound much more interesting than it is. Just a heads up.  Avoid this one.

Since finishing Rogue Legacy, I've been dabbling in other PS4 and Wii U games to play while I'm exercising. One of this month's free PS Plus games was CounterSpy.  It's been a ton of fun and fits into my workout routine with my stationary bike.  It fills the same niche for me that Rogue Legacy did. But it's not like Rogue Legacy.  CounterSpy is a stealth platformer, a stealth shooter, and a cover shooter all at the same time.  It's really cool. Basically you start as a stealth platformer, but there are certain areas of the environment where you can hit a button and snap to that piece of scenery.  At that point you're playing a cover shooter, unless you have a silenced weapon, at which point you're playing a stealth shooter.  It's a really cool mash-up of genres and control schemes.  It took about half an hour for the game to click with me, but after that I was loving it.
